An epic journey of how two people went from puberty to parents and everything in between.
Friends: Circa 1992
Let’s go back in time to ’92 when scrunchies, overall jeans, and slap bracelets were all the rage. We were both 12 years old and first met in middle school band. After a few years he decided he was too cool for band and decided to further his skateboarding career. After graduating we parted ways when I left town to go to college.
Engaged: October 28, 2007
We reunited in 2006 at a bar where he asked for my number, so I jotted down my email and website address like a dork. We pretty much picked up where we left off, but this time with much better hair. After over a year of dating, we packed up our kayaks and set sail for an island to have lunch. Somewhere between fishing and eating shrimp skewers he got down on one knee in the river and proposed and it was perfectly us.
Married: March 22, 2008
We got married in Jensen Beach with slightly over 100 of our closest friends and family. We were planning to get married under these huge pretty oak trees, but the weather had other plans. Our friend Kevin officiated all 8 minutes of our ceremony and it was unbelievably awesome having all of our closest friends & family under one roof getting drunk together all night.
Honeymoon: May 3rd, 2008
We stayed at a little cottage in the Turks & Caicos for our honeymoon and I can’t wait to go back someday. Our days pretty much consisted of snorkeling, floating in tubes, eating fresh conch and drinking fruity beverages. The water was amazing.
Winston: October 17, 2008
One of the first things we wanted to do as newly weds was to own a dog. We settled for some kind of smooshed face pig/cow/bunny but love him just the same.
Pregnant: April 15, 2010
After successfully becoming somewhat competent dog parents, we decided that we were ready to take it to the next level and become parents of a real life human. Getting pregnant was not as easy we had expected, and we are forever thankful to the wonderful nurses, doctors and staff who helped make it possible for us.
Ultrasound: July 28, 2010
At around 16 weeks the doctor announced, “it’s a BOY!” We have been making penis jokes ever since.
Born: December 25th 2010
He was due Jan 7th, but he must have overheard me talking about how fetuses do not receive Christmas presents, because he decided to arrive early. Unfortunately for him we didn’t have any gifts, but he seemed content with a properly installed car seat.
